Great News!! Bill signed by Gov. Synder to post Human Trafficking Hotline at Public Places
Human trafficking is the second largest illegal business after illegal drug trade. In order to address human trafficking, the Human Trafficking Hotline is available to redress human trafficking incidents and issues throughout the U.S.
A bill has been signed by Gov. Rick Synder “requiring a human trafficking hotline number be posted in rest stops, airports and bus stations.”
“Synder says Michigan has “some of the strongest policies in the nation” to help human trafficking victims. [This bill further increases] the visibility of important help line information and national support services goes one step further in encouraging an end to this dangerous and appalling practice”.
“The legislation was signed on [5th April giving] the state the power to order fines for places that fail to post the number. The law follows recommendations from a Michigan human trafficking commission. Advocates say it’s a low-cost way to educate the public about human trafficking and provide help for victims.”
SWHTTF feels that it’s a big stepping stone towards our fight against human trafficking.
